New Hyde Park - North Shore Elks Lodge #2107
Flag Day and Scholarship Award
As part of our cherished Elk tradition, the Lodge held its annual Flag Day observance on Wednesday, June 13. Attendees were moved by the Elks’ beautifully conducted Flag Day ceremony, a tribute to the enduring symbol of our nation’s values and unity. We were especially honored to have “Citizen of the Year” Gaitley Stevenson-Mathews lend his voice to the occasion with stirring renditions of The Star-Spangled Banner and God Bless America. A heartfelt thank you to our flag presenters—veterans Frank Cappa, Frank Fox, and Ralph Scherillo—whose service added profound meaning to the event. We also proudly awarded the Henry Wessels Scholarship to Jackson Bigeni, recognizing his academic achievement and commitment to community values.
New Hyde Park-North Shore Lodge was able to secure an ENF Gratitude Grant for New Hyde Park Memorial High School. We partnered with the school's Center Stage Program to service students with special needs. The Center Stage Program provides an opportunity for special education students & students with special needs to participate in an inclusive theater program under the guidance of Ellen White, the co-founder of Backyard Players & Friends. This program provides these students with an opportunity to work toward a common goal with their general education peers and other members of the community.
PER Tom Lemme and Secretary Kathy Lang present Michael Domingo of Troop 298 in New Hyde Park with a framed certificate and American flag at his Eagle Scout Award ceremony held at the Lodge. For his Eagle Scout project, Michael spearheaded the creation of a Wall of Heroes Memorial, honoring the 57 New Hyde Park residents who gave their lives in WW I, WW II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Leading a dedicated team of volunteers, he oversaw the design and installation at Memorial Park, providing a lasting tribute to these fallen heroes and a meaningful space for the New Hyde Park community.
Congratulation to Jaci Narducci, granddaughter of Pat and our Lodge Chaplain, Carmela Narducci who was awarded a $4,000 Elk Legacy Award Scholarship for her outstanding academic performance. These are available to children or grandchildren of Elks .
