New Hyde Park

Doe Club

Dear Sister Does and my Elk friends:

I hope this column finds you all well. Now that summer is coming to a close, it’s time to resume our fun-filled events that the Does and Elks have planned.

The Does would like to thank Christine Horvath and Debbie Robertson for a very successful Sock Hop in May. This was an amazing night of “the Good Old Days and Rock & Roll”. The food was incredible as well as the music and outstanding raffle prizes. The room was decorated to take you back to the days of yesteryear. Thank you, ladies, for all the hard work you put into making this a memorable night.

In June, the Does and Elks celebrated Flag Day. This is a very special night to honor our country and award two deserving young students with scholarships. This year the Does chose Keira McCaffrey, a Mineola High School student and proud Granddaughter of our own Doe, Barbara O’Brian.  Keira will be attending Misericordia University. The Elks awarded Joseph Puvogel of Herricks High School, who will be attending St. John’s University.

The Does hosted our annual Attendance Dinner and this year it was held at the Stewart Manor Country Club. This event was well attended and thank you Peggy Woltering for making this a special night. In my last official capacity, I awarded eight outstanding, dedicated Does with the Doe of the Year award—Linda Bianculli, Fran Ciampa, Gail Delaporte, Linda Fairgrieve, Anna Lamm, Vicki Papadimitrios, Ingrid Savignano, and Fran Werther. I also had the privilege of awarding the Officer of the Year to a Doe who is so outstanding in all her good works as well as serving as our Treasurer, Annette Kalin. Thank you again to all you incredible ladies.

The Does would like to congratulate Brian Diaz, who was sworn in as District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler at the Elks Convention in Austin.  Brian will be representing the South District.
